About HMS 1&2
Heavy Melting Steel/Scrap (HMS 1 & 2)
HMS 1 and HMS 2 are the most widely traded grades of steel scrap. They consist of cut structural steel, plates, pipe, and other heavy gauge metals. We ensure the material is cut to charging box size (typically 60 x 24 inches or less) and is free of alloy steel, excessive rust, and non-metallics. This grade is vital for the steel manufacturing sector, providing a high-yield, cost-effective feedstock.
A blend of heavy scrap consisting of cut structural and plate scrap, forged/pressed steel, rails, and other materials no greater than 60 x 24 inches. The material is prepared for melting, ensuring clean, uniform, and dense loading. HMS 1 is generally free of galvanized or blackened steel, while HMS 2 may contain these elements, offering a cost-effective alternative without compromising density.
